The Book Of Mormon Baltimore Theatre reviews
Must see
Most people only know about the controversial aspects of this show. Yes it pokes fun at the Mormon Church, however, it tackles some very tough issues. The young boys that head out as missionaries are naive to the ways of the real world. They face issues of violence against women and dangerous warlords in Africa and learn to adapt to the world while still "accomplishing" their mission. The musical isn't for the faint of heart. It has some very strong language and mature themes. Listen to the soundtrack before going to the show to make sure you aren't going to be too shocked.
If you love tourist traps, you'll love this place.
If you're looking for a comfortable venue and a great bank for your buck Broadway show, look elsewhere. If you're looking to spend $130 on decent seats to a show on Broadway that will offer you the pleasure of sitting in a position that will cause premature lower back pain because the seats are literally not wide enough for you to sit without twisting your shoulders at an angle where you're not pushing up against the people next to you (and i'm very average size at 5'10 180lbs), then you'll love this venue. If you love waiting in line for 20 min because the place cant accommodate everyone who wants to urinate, then this place is perfect for you. Ladies, you better be very aggressive when it comes to the bathroom break. My wife waited 20 min just to go back to her seat as the show started again. Most of all, if you love paying 130 bucks to see a mediocre show during which you'll laugh a few times at the slapstick comedy, well again, this is the perfect show for you! However, if you're looking to enjoy yourself, especially with a spouse or a date, dont go to this absolute tourist trap in an old dingy theater with overcrowded bathrooms and overpriced drinks with shitty rushed service to see a self proclaimed "funniest musical of all time". I've been to a ton of off-broadway shows and shows elsewhere that will put this show to shame. Disappointing at best.
Hilariously Funny
The story line was great and the high energy driven cast made it work. There was never a dull moment. I loved the sets and the props but most of all, it was just a lot of fun to watch. The theater was very nice. I had orchestra left side seats in the 4th row. .My girlfriend didn't think the wine she bought during the intermission was anything to write home about for the price but that's the only down side. They are very well organized at the Eugine O'Neill Theater to handle seating, intermission and exiting patrons. Outstanding job. We will definitely be back.
